    Hello everyone!

The UK is considering a proposal that would force businesses to pay £1,000 (US$1,415 at the exchange rate as this is being posted) for each foreign MBA hired. Obviously, the UK business schools are adamantly opposed and it’s equally bad news for international MBA applicants hoping to work in the UK post graduation.

However, we don’t think the currently proposed fee is going to have a significant impact on MBA recruiting given its relatively low percent of recruiting costs as well as post-MBA signing bonuses and salaries.

Certainly the potential is there for a much larger hiring charge that could deter UK companies from hiring foreign MBAs and it’s something we encourage you to consider in your b-school selection process. Should that scenario play out, admission chances may improve to UK b-schools for foreign applicants albeit with the hefty opportunity cost of weaker career placement services.

Best of luck with your applications!

    Sincerely,
