Hello everyone!
Chris Rider, an assistant professor of strategy at Georgetown McDonough School of Business published an interesting article about how a prestigious law school can act as career insurance. The study followed 220 law partners after their prominent law firm went out of business. About 80% of the partners found work at less prestigious law firms while the remaining 20% found work at higher or similar firms.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that the partners from the top 10 law schools fared better than even those from top 20 law schools. What we found surprising was the career insurance carried over so many years after graduation. We’ve seen cases of top grads who have a misstep and then get a second chance perhaps due to their school name but it’s been for graduates just a few years out of law school.
Just something to keep in mind if you are thinking about retaking the LSAT to boost your chances at the top law schools!
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
