ModeratorHello everyone!
Northwestern Pritzker School of Law says it has had enough students who have taken both the LSAT and GRE and it has hired an outside company to evaluate the feasibility of accepting the GRE for admissions. We expect the school to make an announcement on its standardized test requirement by the end of the summer.
Meanwhile, ETS, which administers the GRE, is planning to complete a study by August that includes data from 13 schools and, presumably, will be a more robust and statistically significant than any that can be undertaken by a single school acting on its own. We’re aware that many schools are anxiously awaiting the EST study results due to either a lack of GRE data among its own students and/or a lack of funds.
Simply put, the current glacial pace of law school GRE acceptance could very quickly accelerate to light speed.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
David Petersam

Just an update that Northwestern Pritzker is expected to announce Monday that it will become the third law school to accept the GRE as well as the LSAT. However, prospective applicants will have to wait until the Fall 2019 admissions cycle as the school wants to make sure the ABA allows the use of the GRE on a permanent basis.
Best of luck with your applications!

ModeratorHello everyone!
Earlier today, the nation’s largest law school, Georgetown University Law Center, announced that it will begin accepting GRE scores as well as LSAT scores starting with the next entering class.
Dean William Treanor stated, “Georgetown Law is committed to attracting the best and the brightest students of all backgrounds. We believe this change will make the admissions process more accessible to students who have great potential to make a mark here at Georgetown Law and in successful legal careers, but who might find the LSAT to be a barrier for whatever reason.”
Best of luck with your applications!

ModeratorHello everyone!
Just a quick update that Kellye Testy, the new president of the Law School Admission Council that administers the LSAT, stated yesterday that the LSAC is not against innovation and competition but that the GRE studies are “ridiculously flawed” and that the GRE “is a poor test for legal reasoning” and it “doesn’t even test analytical and critical reasoning.”
We’d only be surprised if the LSAC had actually endorsed the GRE, so this isn’t really news, per se. And if Testy’s name sounds familiar, it is likely because she’s the former dean of the University of Washington School of Law.
Best of luck with your applications!

ETS, the owner of the GRE, released new research indicating “that the GRE General Test is a strong, generalizably valid predictor of first-year law school grades. Furthermore, results show that the test adds to the prediction even when undergraduate grade point average already is available to predict those grades. The study also reiterated the reliability of the GRE test that had been shown in prior research.”
