Hello everyone!
STAT has an eye-opening article on MDs who are going back to school to become nurses. These individuals represent some of the MDs who failed to match into a residency program and, even though they have an MD, they are not allowed to treat patients because of the lack of the residency. We think it’s worth noting that only 53.9% of US citizens who graduated from international medical schools matched in 2016 compared to 93.8% of US citizens who graduated from American medical schools.
While we don’t want to discourage anyone from pursuing their dreams, please keep these possibilities and statistics in mind if you decide to attend a Caribbean or other foreign medical school.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
David Petersam
