Hello everyone!
Johns Hopkins University received a $1.8 billion gift, the largest single gift ever received by a US college, from Michael Bloomberg that will allow the university to become forever need blind. This weekend, Bloomberg wrote an op ed in the New York Times explaining why he feels need-blind admission is beneficial for society. He also challenged others to donate so other schools could join Johns Hopkins as forever need blind.
This gift is certainly large and significant. We’ve seen instances of schools who have declared themselves need blind but have later backed off a bit (Haverford in 2016 comes to mind) due to the financial requirements of maintaining the policy.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
