ModeratorHello everyone!
The University of Alabama’s law school received a record donation of $26.5 million from Florida businessman and attorney, Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. Culverhouse went to University of Florida but has many family ties to University of Alabama. The gift will be used to establish the Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. School of Law Endowment for Excellence. That endowment will be used to help students graduate with less debt and help the law school be more selective in the admission process. Both Culverhouse and Alabama believe this gift can help propel the law school into the T14.
Best of luck with your applications!

ModeratorHello everyone!
We just blogged that the University of Alabama will likely be returning Mr. Culverhouse’s gift and changing the name of the law school back to the University of Alabama School of Law. We certainly feel for those applicants who chose to attend Alabama in part because of the expected donation as well as any professors or other professionals who may have chosen to pursue employment at the law school for the same reason.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,

ParticipantCulverhouse is calling for a boycott of the law school because of Alabama’s abortion law. It’s getting really ugly.

ModeratorHi Rodney,
Thanks for the contribution to the thread. We heard that. But at the time we published our blog, we didn’t feel comfortable printing it because we didn’t feel it had been confirmed.
Best of luck with your applications!
