ModeratorHello everyone!
Kboi2.com published a news story about some growing distrust and frustration amongst Concordia Law students towards their administration over their accreditation status. Concordia University School of Law opened in fall 2012 and part of the issue, undoubtedly, is that ABA accreditation takes time.
For those of you who are unaware, schools can not apply for provisional accreditation until they’ve been operational for at least one year and the provisional status lasts at least three years. Hence, the inaugural class is taking a pretty big risk which is often offset by a tuition break as well as slightly lower admissions standards. What we normally advise applicants is to look at the rest of the school. In other words, if a school such as Princeton or Brown decided to start a law school, the chances are very high that it would be successful like the rest of their graduate programs and the inaugural class would be taking a pretty small risk.
We certainly wish the school and its students all the best and we also understand the only other law school in Idaho is a several hour drive from Boise. At the same time though, we hope that this helps inform prospective law school applicants about the risks of selecting a brand-new law school.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,

ModeratorHello everyone!
It seems we failed to update this thread in 2014 when Concordia gained conditional accreditation that allowed its students to sit for the bar. The March 1, 2019 update is that the law school is now fully accredited by the ABA. So, while previous graduates have been passing the bar and practicing law, the trepidation of current and prospective students has now been alleviated.
Best of luck with your applications!
