    Hello everyone!

We wanted to bring your attention to this Nasdaq.com report about a less-than-optimistic outlook for the Caribbean medical schools. Compliance with the new gainful employment regulation from the Department of Education was the main point of contention.

The employment regulation measures if graduates will earn enough to service their student debt while maintaining a “reasonable lifestyle.” If a school falls into noncompliance, it will lose access to federal funding and this is exactly where the overwhelming majority of revenue for the for-profit schools comes from.

It’s certainly not our intention to reproduce the article here, but you can read it and see that they believe the financial viability of the Caribbean medical schools is being threatened. Should those schools be forced to fold, we don’t see how students will be able to transfer and complete their degrees. There is already a bit of an uphill battle to practice medicine in the US after graduating from the Caribbean and we believe this report is one all prospective Caribbean med applicants should closely examine.

Best of luck with your applications!

    Sincerely,

Ouch! Even more reason to avoid those crappy schools.
