ParticipantI have a few questions about admission to University of Texas’ MBA program, and I would appreciate some insight. I went to undergrad at UT and had a modest GPA 2.95, not great I realize. By time I matriculate, I will have 6 years of consulting experience at Big 4. Strong extracurricular and leadership experiences, GMAT to be taken next week. I have been scoring in the mid to upper 600’s and was curious to know what you think the minimum I would need to get so as not to take the test again. UT has rolling admissions, so I want to get my application in ASAP, but want to have the best possible application. Also, I am from Texas, but now live in New York, which classifies me as an out of stater. Any suggestions on how to get around that? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated, as the stress of the test is starting to freak me out a bit.

You will need a slightly higher GMAT than most other applicants to help mitigate your GPA. If you have good work experience and extracurriculars and you submit a well-prepared application (good reasons for why you want an MBA, highlight some good ‘wow’ factors, etc.), you should be competitive with a 700 GMAT.
If you have any more questions about MBA admissions, kindly post them in the MBA section of this site. This will ensure the most prompt response.

Best of luck with your GMAT and applications!
