I am very interested in becoming a physician, but I am not really interested in becoming a researcher. I have a 3.75 science GPA so I am somewhat competitive, but I really do not know where to apply if my goals do not correlate to where NIH research dollars and interested researchers want to apply. What schools should I look into if research is not my primary interest?(I am from California) Without going into research can you become a surgeon or emergency medicine physician?

    Thank You

of course you can go into ER or whatever if you didn’t go to a research ranked med school. check out the ranked “primary care” schools. you will also see that some schools are ranked in both research and primary care.

not all med schools require research. check the school or talk to students to find out.

    california has great schools:
uc irvine, uc san diego, stanford, ucla, usc, loma linda, uc davis

your gpa is good, but what’s your mcat?

plan to apply to 10 schools (or more).
