ParticipantPLEASE VOTE THIS FALL!!
Whether you like Bush or Kerry or neither please go to the polls! If you don’t want to vote for either there are still other contests and issues on your ballot! You can simply abstain from answering the question of who you want for President! Please vote though. If you can’t get to your polling place then just apply for an absentee ballot. Go to your state government’s website and it will be easy to go into an election board page and find information about how to apply for an absentee ballot. It took me three minutes to apply, and half of that was just printing the piece of paper and walking out to the mailbox.
quote:
Therefore, the American people are the ones who choose their government by way of their own free will; a choice which stems from their agreement to its policies. Thus the American people have chosen, consented to, and affirmed their support for the Israeli oppression of the Palestinians, the occupation and usurpation of their land, and its continuous killing, torture, punishment and expulsion of the Palestinians. The American people have the ability and choice to refuse the policies of their Government and even to change it if they want. The American people are the ones who pay the taxes which fund the planes that bomb us in Afghanistan, the tanks that strike and destroy our homes in Palestine, the armies which occupy our lands in the Arabian Gulf, and the fleets which ensure the blockade of Iraq. These tax dollars are given to Israel for it to continue to attack us and penetrate our lands. So the American people are the ones who fund the attacks against us, and they are the ones who oversee the expenditure of these monies in the way they wish, through their elected candidates.
-bin Laden’s “Letter to America”
We all know that viewpoint is completely ignorant of how the American system actually functions. While we choose, there is certainly no unanimity in our voting, not everyone votes, and unless our leaders do something to disobey our laws we cannot control their decisions other than by referendum (very unlikely) or four years later when we vote on them again. Also, if we stopped paying taxes we’d just go to jail (and lose our right to vote) or be without important things like school funding, environmental regulation, etc.
If you are going to be judged and even persecuted by terrorists regardless of whether you vote or not, why not stand up and say “Okay then, I’m going voice my opinion and vote to stop you, bin Laden!”
No one can deny that regardless of your situation or interests there is some issue between the presidential, senatorial, congressional, state, and local campaigns that will affect you. Stand up and voice your opinion or stop complaining when things don’t go your way. Even if the campaign isn’t decided by a single vote, every vote adds to the total and the total adds or removes momentum to/from a president elect and to the spirit that Americans will stand up and voice their hopes for freedom worldwide and a strong country at home.

ParticipantGood post. More reason we should all vote. I hate cynics who don’t participate in the process.
As far as Bin Laden goes, I am very happy we bombed Afghanistan and I’d vote for a tax hike if it would guarantee the death of him and Al Quaeda. If Bush hadn’t gone after him after 9/11 only the Farenheit 911 producer would have been against his impeachment.
Just ironic he exercises a freedom of speech the Islamic states don’t allow.
Support terrorists. Vote Bush out of office.
