I’m a fifty-something male with a Bachelors in Business Administration. I’m now trying to go back to school and get a degree in computer science. The programs I’d like to enter is U Washington Bothell’s CS Software bachelors degree, in part because of its internship program with area tech companies.
I have a 3.87 gpa on the Business degree, and a 4.0 on my CS prerequisite classes. But the UW Bothell program mentions that they admit only a small number of post bac students, having a preference for first time degrees.
Should I be considering another education strategy? OR, can I improve my chances of admission?
Thanks for frank advice.
I would encourage you to talk to students, recruiters and representatives of the program in question. I would also encourage you to think if you really need the second degree. Sometimes such career changes can be done without the degree, particularly when the career changer has a lot of experience to offer to their new employer.
