A perhaps common question, but one that I would very much like a seasoned opinion on:
This past year as a sophomore I took Biochemistry, and did quite well the first semester with an A-, but due to over-scheduling my second semester and other tangential factors, did quite poorly, a C+ in fact, the second. While I hope to audit the class in the future to convey a dedication to the material, I have been told (and it certainly makes sense why) that performance in this class is a critical factor when assessing a students prospects as a successful medical student. Consequently, I was wondering how this will affect my admissions chances, and what a proper course of action would be at this point.
For context, I’m at around a 3.81 GPA at present, practice tests are indicating a 34 or 35 MCAT, am triple majoring in Economics, Biology, and German, and have a reasonably rigorous course load consistently throughout my college career thus far, hospital experience, multiple extracurriculars with leadership positions, etc. I will be applying to medical schools this coming fall (fall 2012).
Many thanks in advance.
