Long story short, when I first went to college i screwed up badly and never went to class. I am back in school now, and close to graduating with a degree in microbiology. My cumulative GPA is embarrassingly low, 2.5, but my science GPA is well above a 3.5 and my MCAT scores are in the 35-40 range.

Is there any realistic chance to get into medical school? are admissions boards able/willing to understand that my low GPA is due to my past and that I have changed since then? Or will they simply throw away my application after seeing my GPA?

Hi zorazz and welcome to Admissions Boards!

My gut says you are going to need a post bacc program of some kind to boost your GPA and become competitive.

    Best of luck!
