Hello everyone!
The UK announced there will be 500 extra medical school seats starting this coming year and the goal is to increase the number of seats by 1,500 by 2020. The government has made it clear it wants many of these new seats to go to applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds to increase the diversity of the nation’s physicians.
There is certainly concern across the pond that Brexit, combined with the global shortage of doctors, could create a significant health care crisis in the future if these actions weren’t undertaken.
