After applying to several colleges, including combined BA/MD programs, I have been accepted to Stanford University as well as the Penn State/Jefferson Medical College combined program. I’m not really sure which path to take. I would like to go to Stanford because it has nice weather and it is a pretigious school, but I understand that their premed curriculum is difficult and I am not sure if I can make it to medical school. I got a 1460 on my SAT I and 790 in SAT II biology, if that reflects on my abilities. I’m very good at bio and chemistry because I can memorize a lot. However, the uncertainty of going to Stanford still worries me. My first question is, if I go to Stanford, will Stanford’s reputation help me get into medical school even if my grades are not as high as if I were to go to a less prestigious school? My second question is, in your opinion, should I just take the combined program path at Penn State so that I know I will make it to medical school?
