    Dear AdmissionsConsultant,
I’m 27 y/o and have been working as a healthcare management consultant for the past 5 years, but I’ve decided to make a switch and apply to medical schools. In my undergrad, I took all the pre-med required courses with a ~3.5 GPA, and also have a Masters in Public Health. I also took the MCAT a year ago and received a 30 (which took a lot of studying since I hadn’t taken a science course for 6 years). However, because I’ve been out of of undergraduate, I don’t think I’ll be able to get two letters of recommendations from science professors. I understand the importance of having have letters from professors of science courses, but do you think it’d be passable to instead have letters of rec from graduate professors from my public health courses? I attended a large university in undergrad and don’t think my profs would remember me from 6 years ago. I’m thinking of not applying to med school just because I can’t get the required letters of rec. Your advice is appreciated… thanks!

No one in their right mind would expect someone in your situation to get meaningful letters of recommendation from undergrad science professors six years after the fact.

My medical school letters of recommendation came from two history professors (my major) and a psychology professor. I was offered interviews at all of the six schools to which I applied.

Getting letters from your public health professors seems like a fine idea.
