    To Admissions Consultants-

    I am applying for PhDs for the 2007 academic year. The schools I will be applying to are: Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Cornell, and CUNY (backup).

    Stats:

    1320 GRE (700m/620v/5.0)

    4.0 GPA in Honors program at top 50 public school (overall and major)

    Poli sci major/geography minor/IR certificate

    7 conference presentations at 5 state and international conferences (including 3 publications, session chair once and referee once)

    2 conference papers as co-author (international conference on climate issues)

    Summer internship at the Dept of Commerce (substantive work, created statistical model to evaluate North American competitiveness, corrected an EU-Canada trade document, took part in Washington Center’s NAFTA Leaders program)

    Lab manager of psychology lab after graduating (1 semester, managed 18 research assistants)

    2 Research assistant positions at Columbia with renowned faculty

    MA from Columbia in Climate & Society 08/07

    Marshall Scholar finalist

    Valedictorian, commencement speaker

    Junior Fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Science (awarded to best graduating senior in political science as elected by faculty committee)

    Best undergraduate presentation award at a conference

    14+ op-ed publications online and in print

    11 leadership positions in college overall, including vice president of college council (which represents over 12,000 students), associate justice of honor court, dorm president, and editor-in-chief of the university’s only poli sci publication

    5 merit scholarships

    summer study abroad in the Netherlands

    I want to study international relations, but more specifically, security issues, political psychology, globalization, and IR theory.

    Realistically, what are my chances of being accepted at the schools listed above?
