    An American who holds a master’s degree can expect an average annual salary of $67,361, whereas someone with a bachelor’s degree can expect only $53,581, 2005 US Census figures show.

    The average lifetime earnings of someone who holds a master’s degree are $2.5 million — unless their degree is an MBA, in which case the figure is $4.4 million.
