I had a really low cum GPA for my first degree (BA Communications). My course work was from 3 schools: 1 community college and 2 universities (over a period of 10+ years).

I’m planning on attending another school (#4 — a community college with open admission) to begin work on a BA in Business Administration. There are certain classes that I failed the first time around (College Algebra, twice!), but this was from a lack of concentration – not abilty. Some of the coursework is more than a decade old(ie: Eng 101 and 102).

My question is this: at my new school, will I be allowed to repeat coursework from really old classes? What about a class like College Algebra (which I have failed twice, yet is a fundamental class for Business Admin?) Also, is it possible to NOT submit my transcripts and enter with a clean slate? Do all institutions check academic references?

I’m doing this solely b/c of an interest in learning about business from the ground up. There are some classes that I would like to repeat again just to brush up my knowledge (ie: Microeconomics which I took over 5+ years ago). Will I be allowed to do this?

    Thank you for any advice.
