Hi,
I am very interested in going to medical school and would really appreciate some an honest opinion on whether or not I have a chance of being considered. I have wanted to go to medical school since high school but became discouraged after my grades fell my junior year of college. I graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with an overall GPA of 3.15 and a science GPA of 3.4. I spent a year in graduate school and obtained a 3.5 GPA. Since then I have been working full time as researcher at a pharmaceutical company and tutoring children with learning disabilities at a local school. I have spent the last two years career soul searching and I keep coming back to wanting to be a doctor. I would be willing to study anywhere in the United States just to be able to pursue this goal. I have no doubt in my mind that I would make a great doctor if I could get past admissions.
Is there anyway to overcome my grades without having to score perfect on the MCATs?
I also have struggled with a learning disability since elementary school which is partially the reason my grades are not higher. Do you think this is something that I should mention to admissions or do you think it could be seen as a weakness?
Do you know of some schools that would be more likely to consider someone in my situation?
Thank you
