ModeratorHi David,
Wow! What a great resource. Thank you so much!
I’m a geothermal engineer with no business background and 2 years of work experience. My GPA is very high and my first GMAT practice test was a 680. I think I can hit the mid 700s with some more study time. I’m not quite sure what I want to do with my MBA, but I’m definitely bored right now.
I don’t have leadership experience now, but I was president of my sorority and I am now pretty active in my church.
Do I have a chance at a top business school like Harvard or Stanford?
Hi and thanks for your inquiry and kind compliment.
I wouldn’t proceed any further until you have a much better understanding of your post-MBA career options. Even if we could help you gain admission to Harvard or Stanford right now (I don’t have enough information here to accurately gauge those chances anyway), why do that if it’s possible you could be similarly discontent with your next career path?
Please don’t hesitate to call us at the number below. We’re happy to talk to you and discuss your current situation and help ensure the MBA is right for you before continuing down the MBA applicant path.
Best of luck with your applications!

ParticipantHi David,
I got rejected at a top school after an alumni interview that didn’t go very well. Do you think I can reapply or do you think my chances there are doomed and I should apply elsewhere?

Hi and thanks for your inquiry.
I don’t have a lot to go off of here, but assuming you didn’t raise any egregious red flags, it shouldn’t impact your chances as a reapplicant. Feel free to call me to discuss this directly and off line.
Best of luck with your applications!

Hi and thanks for your inquiry.
First of all, you’re always welcome to call us and we do offer a complimentary assessment.
That said, you need to inventory your strengths, weaknesses and differentiators and think about how your fit with each b-school you are targeting. Then you need to figure out how to best convey those items within the application. (Not just the essays but also the letters of reference, resume, short-answer questions, interview, etc.)
Best of luck with your applications!

ParticipantI just took the GMAT and got a 740. I have a 3.7 from UCLA and 3 years at Google. Just recently realized I wasn’t happy at work due to new boss. Is there any chance I can get into a top business school this year?

Hi Falk and thanks for your inquiry.
There is always a chance you can be admitted this year. However, the business school deadlines are fast approaching and you should want to be sure the MBA is something you are 100% sure you want.
Please feel free to call us at your earliest convenience to discuss your candidacy. Let’s make sure a top business school is right for you at this juncture of your career and, if so, assess your chances at some viable options.
Best of luck with your applications!

ParticipantHi David,
Do you think there is any chance I could get into a top business school after its final deadline has passed? Is there any chance they have unfilled spots or will make an exception for a very strong applicant?

Hi and thanks for your inquiry.
While there’s nothing to stop you from calling the schools and making the inquiry for an exception, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Instead I’d encourage you to take the next few months to start preparing a strong application to submit in the fall.
Best of luck with your applications!
