Hello everyone!
The Chronicle of Higher Education published an article earlier today that cited a “trend” (per the Council of Graduate Schools) in Ph.D. humanities application declines. (While overall Ph.D. applications were up 1% this past year, Ph.D. in humanities applications declined by 7.1%.)
The article speculates this decline is due to the poor job market for humanities graduates and the “doom-and-gloom” talk from professors to their students. That certainly echoes our beliefs as well based on our chats with prospective Ph.D. applicants over the past few years.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
