    Hello everyone!

We haven’t fielded many questions on this subject, but it’s generating a bit of buzz right now in the press and we thought we’d issue this little public service announcement with respect to privately run summer events. Unlike the ones organized by colleges and universities, these events are going to do very little if anything at all to boost your college admission chances. They’re essentially viewed as “pay for play” as, well, they tend to be pricey and open to anyone who can afford them — much unlike the summer enrichment programs, for instance, offered by many colleges.

So, unless you really want the opportunity to travel and potentially visit a campus, please don’t bank on the certificate, “honor,” or whatever other gimmick many of these for-profit events use to entice you. And, as always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at 1.800.809.0800 to discuss your specific situation in more detail.

Best of luck with your applications!

    Sincerely,

    David,

Thank you for posting this. I’ll share it with my friend who thought her kid really won a prestigious award.
