    Hi Everyone,

Brief history on my life.. I started college in 2002 and did terribly. I was working full-time, I was young, extremely irresponsible, and not mature enough to handle it. In 2006, 16 credits shy of graduating I dropped out of college. I moved overseas to a 3rd world country and overtime changed as a person. I worked with impovrished women and children, and decided that I wanted to become a Doctor. I have changed since my younger days. I am hard working, I am training for a marathon, I have re-enrolled in college and I am working on finishing my degree. I am also simultaenously taking pre-med classes from a community college. The question that I have is whether my really terrible GPA the first time around.. close to a 2.2 which I am working on fixing by retaking classes that I failed will be used against me in med school admissions. If I can raise it to above a 3.0 have a 30+ Mcat score, and a 4.0 science GPA with all the research volunteer, shadowing work, do I have a chance to compete with people who never slacked off, and get admission into a US and/or Carribean Med School?

Hi and welcome to Admissions Boards!

I encourage you to post this on the Ask AdmissionsConsultants thread as they can give you a much better answer than I can.

    Best of luck!
