Hi, I am 22 and a Canadian citizen, I’m a third year medical student at the University Of Pecs Medical School in the South of Hungary. One of the main reasons I came here was because of my age (back home it is extremely rare for a 19 year old to get into medical school even if you would be perfectly capable of being a med student) and the undergraduate that is a complete waste of time. I would like to say that the education that I have received here is incredible, the standards and expectations that are required of you as a medical student in this country are far superior than most medical schools – I can assure you this is the truth. I have many friends in medical schools in Canada and the US; I get to hear how each system works and the methods of teaching etc. I believe that the medical school that I am attending here in Europe is definately of equivalence if not better than most medical schools. Hungary has such a good reputation, if you ask any doctor in North America about Hungarian medical schools there is no doubt that all you will hear is good news, I am planning on coming to the U.S. for the Step 1 this summer and I can assure you that from Hungary, the options are good.

(all the final exams at this school are oral, the semester exams and mid semester tests are written – imagine the difficulty and the level of knowledge you must have in doing a pathology oral exam, trust me it is not easy but the education you attain is unbelievable)

What is the name of the school? I am interested in going to Europe for Medical School because of the challenges that come with speaking a new language and adapting to another culture along with the rigors of Medical School.

    Thank you,

    Julia

    Smile :)
