    Hello everyone and thankyou for any replies… so currently i go to a community college and i do well in all my science classes and whatever else it may be. My main weak point is math, im so terrible at math its not even funny, im aware that some Med schools dont require math so if im bad at it isnt it a wise idea to not take it? can i get by in physics without taking a calculus class and just learning what ever i need to use?

    There’s quite a bit of math involved in medicine unfortunately.

    Is completing calculus 1 and statistics typically enough or are further studies into calculus advised?

    hi all,

    i’m currently applying to med school (i know it’s late in the game). but what i’m finding out is that requirments like math really vary from school to school. i did one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics and it seems to be enough for all the schools i’m applying to. also, some schools say they accept AP credits, not sure about that but good luck anyway.

    To address the questions above–

    1. With the exception of certain physician-scientist training programs, math beyond one semester of calculus is not typically required for med school admission. More advanced calculus training will not required or used in medical school classes.

    2. I’m not aware of any US MD or DO programs that don’t require any mathematics courses, although a number of schools have begun accepting statistics in lieu of calculus (a fundamental knowledge of statistics is far more useful in medicine than an understanding of entry level calculus, so this makes sense). There may be some school that I’m not aware of that has no math requirement, but you will severely limit the number of places that you can apply to if you don’t complete a calculus or statistics course.

    i understand that high level of math is highly important just to complete the science requirements successfully. but my question is: what level of calculus should i go for med school? calc2 or calc3 or even 4??? [?]
    i researched my school requirements (i’m from Florida) and all they say is just 2 semesters college math – but what kind of math they don’t specify…
    so if anyone knows, please answer as quickly as possible.
