If I got a C+ in ch101 and a B in ch 102 but A’s in Organic chem, does the C+ really hurt my chances of getting into a good med school? I still don’t know what my GPA will be when I am applying , but probably around a 3.4. Research and volunteer at Mass General experience, and go to Boston University. How badly do you think that c+ will hurt me? Should I take the course over? If yes, does my grade get replaced or do you still see the C+ on the transcript?

Retaking is a waste of time. If you do well, they’re going to think, “Well of course you did well, it’s your second time through the course.”

If you do poorly, they’re going to think “Gee, you can’t even do well on the second chance.”

This is what we call high risk, low reward.

Take some more science classes (i.e. immunology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology) and prove that your chem grade was a fluke–or at least that you can do well in science fields that are closer to medicine.
