I attend the univeristy of california, irvine and my gpa is around a 2.7 and i am a junior. I was wondering which DO schools would I have chance of getting into. I know that allopathic schools are not going to accept me. Is there a chance of getting into DO schools. Can someone tell me some medical schools which I should apply to? thank you.

There are 20 osteopathic medical schools in this country, and they’re all listed on the website of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) at http://www.aacom.org.

While the data on admission to osteopathic med school isn’t quite as extensive as that published by the MD schools, a 2.7 GPA is not competitive at all. Med schools in general, however, look at your total package and not just a GPA or MCAT. Things like courseload, extracurrics, interest in osteopathic medicine come into play. If we were to look ONLY at your GPA as a criterion for admission to med school, only about 2-3% of all matriculated medical students in MD school have a 2.7 GPA.

Med school admissions is more than just a numbers game, however, and that may be exactly why the percentage of matriculated med students with 2.7 GPAs isn’t closer to zero.

Our services will help your application look stellar and perhaps allow the AdComs to consider you in a more favorable light. If you’re interested in learning more about what we do, visit our website at the link below.

    Good luck.
