Hi and thanks for your inquiry. Please address future inquiries to me on the Ask AdmissionsConsultants thread. It will make it a lot easier for us to track this discussion board.
I am thinking about applying to business school. I am a graduate of an Ivy League University with a degree in psychology and have been working for seven years, three of those years at a start-up. The problem: my GPA is probably about 2.5. (Yes, I messed up badly for reasons I would rather not go into here, but have since cleaned up my act).
Should I let such a horrid GPA stop me from applying to business school?
Your GPA can be mitigated, particularly since it is not indicative of your recent performance. The admissions committees will closely scrutinize your transcript for GPA trends and quantitative classes. You may need to build an alternate transcript and you may need a slightly higher GMAT score to demonstrate your academic qualifications, but the GPA alone will not keep you out of b-school.
We help many applicants with similar GPAs gain admission to the top MBA programs each year. Don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you would like professional assistance navigating the admissions process.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
David Petersam
