Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of the UC Irvine School of Law, wrote an editorial in the LA Times arguing for why California should adopt the Uniform Bar Exam. His arguments included giving consumers additional options for lawyer selection, increase lawyer mobility and allow law students to take more of the classes that excite them given that the material covered in the Uniform Bar Exam comes from classes most students are required to take anyway.
So do you think the states should adopt the Uniform Bar Exam? Would more widespread adoption of the exam make you more likely to attend law school?
Best of luck with your applications!
Keep up with us on:
IMO I don’t see why the bar exam should be uniform when the state laws are not.
I agree with Irwin. I also don’t understand why the dean wants to decrease lawyer quality and drive down lawyer salaries by opening up interstate competition.
Definitely not one of the better ideas for sure.
