Please forgive us for falling a bit behind on posting articles. We have some exciting new videos we want to add to our Youtube channel and a lot of school data to update along with plenty of applicant work. That said, let’s discuss the Forbes article on skyrocketing lawyer pay.
After providing an update on rising associate pay, the article goes on to explain how lawyer billing rates have nearly doubled since 2000 and how the ABA effectively runs a “state-approved cartel” on the supply side. But most importantly, in our opinion at least, is the attention the article pays to the increasing complexity of rules and regulations and how the revolving door between industry and government truly seems to have intentionally led to cumbersome and complex regulations mostly to keep the lawyers fully employed and well compensated.
In our opinion, lawyer pay will remain high (at least for graduates of the top law schools) as long as the complexity of new regulations goes unchecked. Please feel free to contribute your opinions and insight below.
Best of luck with your applications!
