Texas A&M announced they will launch a new medical school program with a decidedly engineering focus. The program, which will be located at the Houston Methodist campus, will look to train students with engineering undergraduate degrees in medicine with a particular focus on technology such as orthopedics and prosthetics, tissue regeneration and telemedicine.
The first inaugural class of 50 students is expected to start in Fall 2017, so if you’re interested, start on the application right away. We’re guessing this may not be the program to try the “I want to get into medicine to help alleviate the primary care physician shortage” essay theme! (If that’s your interest, there are plenty of great opportunities elsewhere in the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.)
Best of luck with your applications!
