The NYU Stern School of Business is adding luxury marketing as a new department to its MBA program. We understand it will operate within the existing marketing department. New classes include “Luxury Launch,” “Brand Strategy” and “Creativity,” and will focus on brand image and strong customer relationships.
Historically, luxury marketing has been the domain of the European business schools (think Rolex, Hermes and Rolls Royce), and we’ve worked with American applicants who favored European schools for this very reason. Now luxury marketing is growing in popularity in the US and NYU’s location makes this academic niche a great opportunity.
Perhaps it’s our bias as a US-based consultancy, but we’re excited about the increased interest in luxury marketing and hope that the additional academic focus will help further elevate companies’ abilities to effectively market luxury goods and services.
