The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai remains committed to lower Manhattan. Since 2000, 19 NYC hospitals have closed and news a few weeks ago about a restructuring for the financially troubled Mount Sinai Beth Israel, understandably, didn’t set well with residents in lower Manhattan.
As a result, Mt. Sinai CEO Kenneth Davis, Carl Icahn and other billionaire trustees have expressed continued support for lower Manhattan. These efforts include a letter sent to local residents informing them of a planned $500 million investment in a new “Mount Sinai Downtown” state-of-the-art facility.
So, if you’re targeting Mt. Sinai, we believe you should want to know the state of the school’s current relationship with its community and understand there is no reason to worry about the campus relocating anytime soon.
Best of luck with your applications!
