The LSAC has reported that, as of December 1, both the number of law school applicants (12.4%) and the number of law school applications (14.8%) are both up. While there is still a lot of time left in this application cycle, last year, 27% of applications were submitted as of December 1. Furthermore, both applicants and applications have been above the 2016 and 2017 levels every week.
Whether it’s the “Trump effect,” the improving legal jobs market, wider acceptance of the GRE (which would be confirmed if the growth was limited to the growing list of law schools now accepting the GRE) or some combination of these and possibly other factors remains to be seen.
Best of luck with your applications!
