Harvard University admitted 964 out of 6,630 (14.5%) of its Class of 2022 EA applicants. African-American admits increased to 13.9% of the admits from 12.6% the previous year. On the heels of the recent litigation, Asian-American admits increased to 24.2% from 21.7%. Hispanic and Native American admits increased to 9.8% from 8.8% and to 1.8% from 1.1%, respectively.
If you applied to Harvard and received a deferral, we certainly empathize with your pain and frustration. The very competitive applicant pool and low acceptance rate means extremely talented applicants are going to end up on the outside looking in. However, deferment is not necessarily a “no” and that’s a positive. Write the admissions committee asking if there are any areas of your candidacy that you can further improve and better present over the next several weeks and be sure to reiterate your strong and sincere interest in Harvard.
