Hello everyone!
California’s 22 unaccredited law schools will be required to disclose their dropout rates to prospective applicants for the past 5 years beginning this June. Their 85% dropout rate is significantly higher than the 12% dropout rate of their counterparts that are accredited by the ABA accredited. Additionally, only about 20% of the unaccredited schools’ graduates pass the bar.
We realize the unaccredited schools are often less expensive, may waive the LSAT and, arguably, provide opportunities to a wider range of students. However, we also believe California should go further and force them to also disclose their bar passage rates. These two disclosures would likely go a long way to discouraging these schools to admit applicants they don’t believe in. And this would be a step towards not only alleviating the student loan debt crisis but also helping citizens better manage their educational investments.
Best of luck with your applications!
Sincerely,
