The Wall Street Journal has an article in today’s paper that documents just how dominant Amazon has become on the MBA recruiting landscape. While this shouldn’t be shocking to those who follow the b-school news cycle, the article documents how the company is now the top recruiter at Duke, Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley and they now hire over 1,000 MBA graduates per year.
Quite simply, investment banking and strategic consulting have lost some of their luster over the past decade and tech companies such as Amazon have been dominating their markets and generating the most positive headlines in the business press. All of this has combined to make the company extremely attractive to ambitious graduates who want to work for a “winner” and be in a position to exploit the career advancement opportunities that this rapid growth normally presents.
Best of luck with your applications!
