Students in the EMBA program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business will receive executive coaching services from Philosophy IB starting this year, the consulting firm has announced.

Marian Moore, the academic director of Darden’s EMBA program, said that the coaching will help students integrate their studies with their work performance. EMBA students will work with a certified executive coach from Philosophy IB as part of the program’s Professional Advancement Course. The coach will guide students through a leadership challenge specific to their company or organization. Moore said that this hands-on learning is a natural extention of the EMBA program’s action-oriented approach to learning.

Hmm, well I don’t mean to sound offensive, but shouldn’t the school be able to do that itself? The student could pay for the consulting directly and bypass the school, right?
