The new U.S. News & World Report rankings are now out. The rankings included education and engineering programs along with business, law, medicine and nursing.
Education Top Five: Stanford, Harvard, UCLA UPenn, Wisconsin-Madison
Engineering Top Five: MIT, Stanford, Berkeley and Cal Tech were the top four with Carnegie Mellon and Michigan tied for fifth
Most years we see a bit of movement in the top schools. This year, Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt fell out of the top five for education and were replaced by UCLA and University of Pennsylvania. In the engineering rankings, Michigan crept up into a tie for fifth for the engineering rankings.
For this reason, beware of putting too much faith in the rankings. If you choose between two schools only because one is ranked two notches above the other, there is no guarantee that ranking will be the same when you are getting ready to graduate. All of the top schools are excellent choices for the right students, so please apply to those programs that best fit your needs.
Best of luck with your applications!
